EMMA’S STORY
Aloha,
I have been loving the RevHI life so far. God has been speaking to me, and revealing himself to me in new ways everyday. He continues to stretch me, and help me grow all the time. I'm learning so much about the bible, and God's character.
Outreach on Sunday nights is one of my favorite things we do in RevHI. We have the opportunity to go out to the people, meet them where they're at, and share the love of Jesus with them.
One Sunday night during outreach I was walking down Hotel St. There was a lady sitting on the sidewalk talking to herself. I sat down ...
A REVHI RETURN
As many of you know, in 2015 I took a break from school and sailed off to Hawaii as part of a year-long discipleship program. One component of the program is community service which is carried out in 1 of 2 communities - Waianae or Chinatown. I didn’t have a preference, and was placed in Waianae. I absolutely loved the people in Waianae (especially my church friends), but I have to be honest in saying that most of my days in Waianae felt confusing, tiresome and lonely. I knew I wasn’t serving in an area that I was passionate about, and I felt that I was being ineffec...
GETTING CLOSE
It’s hard to believe that I only have another week and a half left of RevHi before summer mission begins. This past month has definitely flown by.
In addition to our normal schedule within the communities this month we have had a few different events to serve at.
On the 21st of April the Chinatown and Waianae Teams were able to take around 40 kids to the Oahu Junior Soldier rally where they were able to learn more about the Salvation Army, Jesus and connect with peers from different corps on the Island. That day some of us were able to help the Kaneohe Corps get ...
DESTINY’S STORY
When you join a program like Revolution Hawaii there isn’t much to prepare you for all that God is going to do in your life, or any way to express what He did do once it happens. It’s a journey that only the ones who travel it can truly understand. There is a lot of stepping, falling, and getting back up that happens in the course of the year long program but it’s impossible to briefly describe them all so I’ll share with you the most important message God taught me during this journey.
I was in a pretty bad place with my walk with God before I came to Revolut...
PEANUT BUTTER & GOD
I don’t know what this is. A poem? Something like that. This is a personal expression of homeless ministry. A small look into the realities of street life.
How can you look into their eyes and see anything but worth?
People, made in the image of their loving Father, tossed aside like garbage.
The places they call home have no walls. Confined only by their lack of dignity, humanity imprisons them.
Hundreds of eyes, passing by, day by day, never to meet.
Have you ever sat and talked?
“People are laughing in the gutters”, she said to me.
Joy amidst the darkne...
REV HI FINDS IT’S HOMELANI
Revolution Hawaii is expanding to Homelani, which means “heavenly home.”
Directed by Rob Noland, the Revolution Hawaii program offers mission opportunities in the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division to Salvation Army youth 18-29 years old.
“We’re launching Campus Homelani, which will serve as a starting base for Revolution Hawaii’s mission training and outreach programs,” Noland said.
Located along the beaches of the North Shore of Oahu, The Salvation Army’s Camp Homelani has long provided a safe summer experience for children. It’s now taking on ...
